Learn more about Julie Tyler, CRE Marketing Consultant and industry expert for 20 years.
Get to know some of the ULI San Francisco members who work hard behind the scenes to develop the events and initiatives our District Council is known for. These industry leaders come from a variety of real estate land use sectors and lend their expertise and time to drive the work of our committees. We’ve asked these committee co-chairs to answer questions around their involvement with ULI San Francisco.

Q. How did you first get involved with ULI and your committee?
1985 at a Toronto ULI Meeting was my first exposure to the ULI world, there to receive valuable comments from a ULI panel. Involvement led to my faculty roles in Rose Center cities, to my initiation into the Urban Revitalization Council, to Detroit in 2018 where my ULI role changed at the behest of the charismatic Dana van Galder; she asked me to join the ULI SF Technical Assistance Panel Committee. The rest is a continuing story.
Q. What’s your leadership philosophy/style?
I take a rather low key approach to leadership. I really believe that self motivation is critical and my role is to encourage and foster. I believe that ULI is part of a vocation and my role is to help others who have the same passion for the creation of excellent urban environments for all.
Q. What keeps you engaged with ULI SF and what are you most excited about in the near future?
The TAP Committee has now expanded to embrace many public offerings in a renamed body entitled: “Technical Assistance for Communities” (TA4C). We are exploring new offerings in new places, often in collaboration with multiple entities. As we emerge from COVID, it is exciting to address our many public and private challenges in real estate.
Q. What’s a memorable connection you’ve made through ULI?
The Rose Center Mayors, fellows, and faculty in Louisville, Minneapolis and Anchorage were valuable and memorable connections as part of the former program of ULI. In addition, I continue to benefit immensely from the talented, multi-disciplinary members of the Urban Revitalization Council and ULI San Francisco.
Q. If you could have any career in another profession, what would it be?
One profession would be a university professor engaged in research and publication of past and future human urban environments. From archaeology to astrology, architecture to anthropology, the research would focus various fields onto the forms of future human habitation on Earth and in space.
