“As an emerging Black developer, I volunteer for UrbanPlan because I believe in the power of education for children, teenagers, young adults, adults, and older adults. No matter the age, we each have an opportunity to engage in real-world urban planning challenges that align with issues affecting our lives today, such as post-COVID-19 development, housing equity, and climate change, to name a few. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see individuals grow their critical thinking skills to develop urban plan ideas, and I am proud to be part of the process.” – Isis Bastet

“I love doing Urban Plan and sharing my enthusiasm about our dynamic industry of real estate development. It’s my experience that very few high school students know what possible career paths are out there for them, particularly if they do not know someone in a given profession. The Urban Plan assignment offers students exposure to a variety of paths—as a future designer, builder, marketer, environmentalist, advocate, or finance professional.” – Kathleen Kavanaugh
