ULI SF Accepting Proposals: Executive and Leadership Training
We are accepting proposals to design & deliver a two-hour, high-impact leadership development session for our Pathways to Inclusion cohort.
Get to know some of the ULI San Francisco members who work hard behind the scenes to develop the events and initiatives for which our District Council is known. These industry leaders come from a variety of real estate land use sectors and lend their expertise and time to drive the work of our committees. We’ve asked these committee leaders to answer questions about their involvement with ULI San Francisco.

Nicolas Romano, East Bay Programs Committee Co-Chair
Director of Development, campus llc
Q: How did you first get involved with ULI and your committees?
A: I became interested in real estate while in planning school (Go Bears!), and Alexandra Stoelzle helped me find my way to ULI through the Student Committee. I was hooked fast. Things snowballed from there – first onto the YLG Steering Committee after graduation, and then onto the East Bay Committee and beyond.
Q: What’s a memorable connection you’ve made through ULI?
A: Like many people, I would have a much thinner social calendar if it were not for Miles Garber. His combination of being deeply interesting and interested is something I aspire to.
Q: What keeps you engaged with ULI SF, and what are you most excited about in the near future?
A: It is so cool to watch people I’ve met through ULI grow into new roles and crush new stages of their professional life. In the very near future, I’m really excited to showcase this chapter’s work over the last decade at the Fall Meeting.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish in the next year?
A: I look forward to leading a successful changing of the guard for the East Bay Committee. I am so excited about the incoming members and upcoming chairs – I know they are going to continue to build on the great work we’ve done over the last few years.
Q: What’s your leadership philosophy/style?
A: I think it’s important to have both very high standards and empathy. Everyone is dealing with their own personal struggles that another cannot fully know. It can be an important consideration without being an excuse.
Q: Outside of work and ULI, what do you enjoy doing?
A: I love being a dirtbag for a few days each month. Living in a van down by the river while climbing walls all day is my happy place.
Q: What’s your must-have food or drink?
A: Fried chicken sandwiches. I’m an absolute fiend. I average three a week and have (semi) monthly meetings with a couple of old friends where we try a new one each time. It might be the unhealthiest thing that I do.
Thank you, Nic, for all your contributions to ULI SF and to our East Bay Programs Committee!
