Remembering Longtime ULI Member Leader and Life Trustee Joe Brown
Joseph E. Brown was a pioneering landscape architect, urban planner, and ULI Life Trustee.
Get to know some of the ULI San Francisco members who work hard behind the scenes to develop the events and initiatives for which our District Council is known. These industry leaders come from a variety of real estate land use sectors and lend their expertise and time to drive the work of our committees. We’ve asked these committee chairs to answer questions about their involvement with ULI San Francisco.
Jennifer Eskildsen, Sponsorship Committee Co-Chair & District Council Vice Chair
Vice President Co-Investment, Grosvenor
Q. How did you first get involved with ULI and your committees?
My first involvement with ULI was through UrbanPlan. The opportunity to engage with young people and expose them to the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) world is among the most rewarding things I do.
Q. What keeps you engaged with ULI SF and what are you most excited about in the near future?
I am most excited about the opportunity to showcase San Francisco and our local District Council as hosts of the 2025 Fall Meeting next November.
Q. What do you hope to accomplish in the next year?
I’m optimistic about finding local investment opportunities that will surely be some of the best vintage deals in the next decade. And also investing in my network, working alongside fellow ULI members, we have the potential to all lift each other up.
Q. What’s your leadership philosophy/style?
My leadership style has been influenced by my participation in UrbanPlan, which promotes the Socratic Method. I subscribe to the servant leadership model and provide influence by bringing the right decision-makers/stakeholders together in the room. One of the many benefits of the ULI network is that often those people are already in the room or just one phone call away.
Q: What’s front of mind for you right now?
Best ways of executing on the current investment opportunities I see over the next 2-3 years.
Q: Outside of work and ULI, what do you enjoy doing?
Spending time outside on a hike or at the park with my dog Izzy and driving fast cars on winding roads.
Q: If you could have any career in another profession, what would it be?
Probably a teacher, philanthropist, or COO-type position where I could positively impact the growth of tomorrow’s leadership superstars across a variety of industries and seek a different type of ROI.
Q: What’s your must-have food or drink?
My morning pour-over café au lait, made with meticulous settings.
Thank you, Jennifer, for your leadership within our Sponsorship Committee and as our District Council Vice Chair!
