Pride 2024: Read, Watch, Listen & Act
Join us as we read, watch, listen, and act throughout June in honor of Pride.

Juneteenth, officially Juneteenth National Independence Day, is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Short for “June Nineteenth,” the celebration marks the day in 1865 that federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to ensure that all enslaved people would be freed, two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. President Biden signed legislation in 2021 that officially recognized June 19 as a federal holiday.
Join ULI San Francisco as we honor this date in history, explore its significance, and highlight the experiences of the Black community nationwide in our journey to create a more inclusive, equitable, and diverse space for all.
