Pride Month: Read, Watch, Listen, and Act with ULI SF
In celebration of Pride Month, ULI San Francisco is exploring the history and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community.
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Short for “June Nineteenth,” the celebration marks the day in 1865 that federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to ensure that all enslaved people would be freed. The arrival came two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. Just last year, Juneteenth became a federal holiday.
Join ULI San Francisco has we honor this date in history, explore its significance, learn about its ties to the real estate industry, and support community events in our journey to create a more inclusive, equitable, and diverse space for all.
