Chair Eric Tao Announces ULI SF Gala
ULI SF Chair Eric Tao invites you to Reconnect & Renew with old friends and new at our first-ever Gala on February 16, 2022!
Get to know some of the ULI San Francisco members who work hard behind the scenes to develop the events and initiatives our District Council is known for. These industry leaders come from a variety of real estate land use sectors and lend their expertise and time to drive the work of our committees. We’ve asked these committee co-chairs to answer questions around their involvement with ULI San Francisco.

Q. How did you first get involved with ULI and your committee?
I participated in the Hines Urban Design Competition as a graduate student at UC Berkeley. After the competition, I joined the Student Committee and eventually became Chair. Once I graduated, I jumped into YLG. I joined the Steering Committee and chaired the Development 360 program before coming on as YLG Co-Chair.
Q. What keeps you engaged with ULI SF and what are you most excited about in the near future?
ULI SF has offered endless opportunities for growth, and I continue to meet mentors and build lifelong friendships. I am most excited about bringing back our in-person programs. YLG’s first in-person event last week, the Oakland DeTour, was a huge success and we plan to keep the momentum!
Q. What’s a memorable connection you’ve made through ULI?
I attended the ULI Europe Conference in Amsterdam in 2020 just before Covid shut down the world and met an amazing group of now friends. During the lockdown, we held a cross-cultural virtual event with YLG/NEXT Amsterdam, discussing the differences in how Covid affected the CBD of the two cities.
Q. What’s front of mind for you right now?
As we slowly begin regaining some semblance of normalcy, I am thinking about what normalcy actually means in this day and age. We have learned so much about resiliency and adaptation. Now how can we improve our practices to create a better future than we were headed toward before the pandemic?
