Get to know some of the ULI San Francisco members who work hard behind the scenes to develop the events and initiatives our District Council is known for. These industry leaders come from a variety of real estate land use sectors and lend their expertise and time to drive the work of our committees. We’ve asked these committee co-chairs to answer questions around their involvement with ULI San Francisco.
Erica Weber
Co-Chair, UrbanPlan Committee
Principal, Rolling Fog Capital
Q: How did you first get involved with ULI and your committee?
As a young attorney, I wanted to get more involved in the Bay Area real estate community. I attended a few larger ULI programs and quickly realized I needed to find a smaller group within ULI. I started volunteering with UrbanPlan and I really enjoyed. being in the classroom and meeting other ULI members.
Q: What is your favorite ULI memory or event?
My favorite ULI event is the annual UrbanPlan volunteer appreciation event. It’s really inspiring to connect with other ULI volunteers who make the UrbanPlan program happen. Plus, UrbanPlan has grown so much that it’s nice to spend an evening hearing about what is happening in the program throughout the Bay Area.
Q: What keeps you engaged with ULI SF and what are you most excited about in the near future?
The people keep me engaged with ULI. ULI members come from so many different industries and backgrounds that I’m constantly learning when I’m with other ULI members. I will be really excited to see people in person at ULI events and be back at schools in person for UrbanPlan.
Q: What’s your leadership philosophy/style?
As a leader, I think it’s important to establish a clear vision and set of goals and then give people the flexibility to find the best way to accomplish those goals. I’m a details person, so I often have to resist the urge to micromanage.
Q: When travel goes back to normal, where is the first place you want to go to?
It’s hard to decide! Either Norway, to replace a 2020 family trip that was cancelled, or Punta Mita, Mexico, to relax and enjoy the beach.
Q: Outside of work and ULI, what do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy spending time with my family (and friends in more normal times). I’ve been able to ski a lot with my family, which has been an amazing outlet during Covid. I recently took up tennis, which has been great exercise and also very humbling since I’m a complete beginner.
Q: If you could have any career in another profession, what would it be?
A college volleyball coach.
