Public hearings used to be thought to bring inclusive, representative feedback about a development project —
even when this required in-person attendance at hearings and meetings to be engaged.
These commonly held beliefs and practices are being disproven by a new pandemic-mandated way of meeting, and civic engagement through virtual hearings is available to anyone with a phone or internet device to join in from anywhere. Data is proving that participation is now more diverse and democratic than ever.
Join ULI SF for this Housing the Bay follow up event as we hear our expert panelists discuss the potential to permanently transform public meetings to be more diverse and inclusive of the communities they serve.
Speakers:
- Ruby Bolaria Shifrin, Director of Housing Affordability, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (Moderator)
- Margaret Abe-Koga, Mayor of Mountain View
- Katherine Levine Einstein, Associate Professor, Boston University
- Laura Foote, Executive Director, YIMBY Action
- Olya Krasnykh, Assistant Vice President, Sares Regis Group Northern CA
This is a Housing the Bay follow-up webinar and is sponsor eligible for Housing the Bay sponsors, as well as complimentary to all Housing the Bay attendees. The discount code to register for this event will be distributed in advance.
