ULI San Francisco is pleased to announce its second installment of Boardroom After Dark: intimate dinner gatherings that bring together a small group of lucky ULI members with some of San Francisco’s most dynamic and engaging real estate leaders.
This is a unique opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with some of the area’s real estate professionals who are making things happen and have a personal career path they are willing to share.

We will explore how industry leaders are changing the way developers raise capital, gain public approval, and creatively adapt existing spaces. Dinners will be from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and will generally be held in or near the San Francisco Financial District.

Selection Process:
A maximum of 10 ULI members may attend each Boardroom event, and an application is required. Kindly rank your dinner choices in order of preference so that we can assure each registrant has the opportunity to attend an event. We will do our best to match you with one of your top choices. If we are unable to accommodate you for this round of dinners, we will attempt to provide you with top consideration for our third installment.
Payment:
Payment is due at the time a member is selected to register for an event. Failure to attend your assigned dinner will affect future dinner event opportunities. Dinner & drinks will be pre-arranged, and will be unique to each event.

Attendance Policy:
Attendance at the Boardroom After Dark dinner events is extremely limited and attendees are selected with an eye toward facilitating a dynamic conversation. Due to the limited capacity of this program, refunds are not available.

Deborah Boyer, The Swig Company
Executive Vice President, Director of Asset Management
Ms. Boyer is Executive Vice President and Director of Asset Management, responsible for the company’s portfolio assets nationally. Deborah joined The Swig Company in 2005 with over 20 years’ experience with major real estate owners and investors, providing her with a broad background in mixed-use commercial real estate. Her strategic management and positioning of Swig portfolio assets have been instrumental in placing the company at the forefront of emerging trends in the industry.
Reflective of her dedication to building a vibrant Oakland, Deborah serves as board president of the Lake Merritt/Uptown Community Benefit District and is a board member of SPUR Oakland. Deborah participates in numerous professional and community-based organizations and is currently a member of the board of directors for BOMA San Francisco.

Elizabeth Back is Partner for Brazos Group. Brazos is a development firm focused on North Bay commercial and East Bay residential. Mrs. Back has 13 years’ experience in real estate acquisitions, finance, project management, planning, entitlement, permitting, design, and construction. She manages an average $3m construction budgets and has created $12m in NNN lease assets. She has entitled over 1,200 units of residential, 1 msf of commercial, and 80 megawatts of solar by navigating complex political and environmental challenges at both a State and local level. She has master planned over 5,000 acres of resort communities, designed over 260,000 sq ft of condominiums, engineered utilities for residential subdivisions, and closed transaction on over $2 million in ecosystem credits.
Elizabeth holds a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania with a Major in Finance and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a member of Wharton Bay Area Real Estate, International Council of Shopping Centers, Urban Land Institute, and is a USGBC LEED Accredited Professional.

Lisa Powers, Powers Equity & Accountancy
Principal
Originally matriculating in the UC system in foreign languages, Lisa left to create a small company, which she sold four years later. The high cost of income tax to business was the lesson learned, leading her to become a CPA and earn an M.S. in Tax Law. Through subsequent years she founded and sold a small business accounting firm, keeping the larger clients as a more focused business plan; began a real estate investment / development career; spent six years as co-CEO of a user interface company doing large cap client deal-making; and continued to work with privately-held companies and their owners for matters of tax and business advisory. She believes in the ethic of a “win-win” attitude, in business and in life.
Ms. Powers currently serves on the Children’s Hospital Oakland Legacy Advisory Board, co-taught a multi-disciplinary course at UC Berkeley Bechtel School of Engineering – “The Start-up Company”, and is a past three-term president of the Golden Gate University Graduate Tax Alumni Association.

Gaye Quinn, Westlake Urban, LLC
Managing Director
Ms. Quinn is responsible for the execution of Westlake’s Development activities including governmental entitlements, strategic planning, site evaluation and project feasibility analyses. She is also directly responsible for the redevelopment of Westlake’s Kirkham Heights residential project in San Francisco.
Prior to joining Westlake, Ms. Quinn served in senior management positions in Bay Area real estate development firms and she has managed the design, development and governmental entitlements for several million square feet of commercial real estate, including retail, industrial, office and residential projects.
In addition to over 14 years of experience in the private sector, Gaye brings the unique perspective of having served as a Planning Director in three Bay Area cities: San Mateo, San Leandro and Emeryville. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from California Polytechnic State University.

Meg Spriggs, Shorenstein Properties
Managing Director, Multifamily Investments Group
Ms. Spriggs joined Shorenstein in 2013. She is responsible for overseeing multifamily housing transactions for the Shorenstein family. This includes sourcing and evaluating, as well as financing, acquiring, entitling, developing, managing and divesting of assets, and supporting other Shorenstein professionals in the evaluation and execution of mixed-use projects with a multifamily component.
Ms. Spriggs is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha International, and the San Francisco Urban Planning and Research Association. She also serves on the board of directors for the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and is a founding board member of ArtCare, in support of the public and civic arts programs of the San Francisco Arts Commission.
Prior to joining Shorenstein, Ms. Spriggs was a vice president of development for AvalonBay Communities, Inc. where she was responsible for land acquisition, design, entitlement, and permitting, as well as oversight of the construction and lease-up of multifamily properties in the San Francisco Bay Area region.

Karen Alschuler, Perkins + Will
Principal, Global Discipline Leader for Urban Design
As the Global Discipline Leader for Urban Design, Ms. Alschuler leads her team to address the most urgent and interesting urban issues, building a legacy of urban places, waterfronts, and transportation centers unique to their settings and welcoming to diverse populations. In San Francisco alone, her plans frame the development of 30,000 new housing units and over 2000 acres of urban district transformation.
Over the last twenty years, first at SMWM and now at Perkins+Will Alschuler has overseen a portfolio of over 400 planning and urban design projects. Her projects have set the design parameters for the transformation of large urban districts, and urban waterfronts, embracing urban stewardship and the creation of civic places.
A selection of projects includes Alschuler’s engagement in leading edge urban design guidelines at the intersection of Toronto’s downtown and waterfront, Fremont’s recent performance driven Community Plan (aka Specific Plan), and Mission Rock Design Controls. Classic relevant urban transformation initiatives include award-winning projects at Treasure Island, Mission Bay, Mission Rock, the Master Plan for Boston’s Central Artery Corridor, and The Yards in Washington DC.
Alschuler is an active contributing member of the Urban Land Institute and a Fellow of APA. She has served as an officer and President of CREW in three cities, Boston, New York and San Francisco. She has been published in Urban Land and Planning Magazine and several industry “bibles” of planning and urban design. She has served on numerous civic panels and boards including 22 years as a member of the BCDC Design Review Board.

Alicia Esterkamp Allbin, Pacific Waterfront Partners
Principal and Partner
Ms. Allbin joined Pacific Waterfront Partners in 2002 and leads a team of development professionals, including project managers, property managers, architects, and consultants. Her responsibilities include acquisitions, asset management, entitlements, marketing, leasing, public relations, and community outreach.
Most recently, Ms. Allbin managed the $60M historic renovation project at Piers 1 1/2, 3 & 5. Ms. Allbin was also responsible for the retail strategy and tenanting which secured renowned restaurant tenants La Mar Cebicheria Peruana, Hard Water, The Plant Cafe, and Coqueta. In addition to receiving approvals from over 20 different agencies, the project was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and secured nearly $12M in historic tax credits.
Ms. Allbin has her M.B.A. from the University of San Francisco and has comprehensive experience in real estate development, entitlements, public-private partnerships, historic rehabilitation, leasing strategy, marketing, public relations, and communication. She serves on the Board of Directors for the San Francisco Heritage and SF Made. Ms. Allbin was named one of the Forever Influential Women of the Bay Area and is a member of Lambda Alpha International, SPUR, the Housing Action Coalition, the Bay Area Council, the SF Chamber of Commerce, ULI, and BOMA.
