A First Look: The Orchards at Walnut Creek

On the morning of September 8th, 2016 a group of ULI members gathered for a panel discussion and sneak peak of The Orchards at Walnut Creek, a new retail project. This development is set on twenty-five acres and once finalized will feature 200,000sf of new shops anchored by a 55,000sf Safeway Lifestyle Center. In addition to the new infrastructure, the property will exhibit a park-like 4 acres of preserved community open space. ULI Resilience Highlights SF Bayview

The latest Urban Land magazine addresses a local concern — community survival after a major earthquake. In the article “San Francisco’s Bayview Plans for Resilience at the Neighborhood Level”, church administrator G.L. Hodge shares the ongoing emergency preparedness at Providence Baptist Church and their plan to serve San Francisco Bayview residents after a catastrophe. Drawing from his experiences in the Loma Prieta Earthquake and the Los Angeles riots, Hodge explains the initiative Resilient Bayview, a community-led effort of neighborhood leaders and city agencies to develop and implement an action plan.
